Steyer

Steyer
Our winery is located in Plitvica, an idyllic village near Gornja Radgona, right on the border with Austria. This region has been renowned for viticulture and winemaking traditions for centuries, passed down from generation to generation. The foundation of our farm was laid by Jožef Steyer in 1934, supported by his wife Marija. Initially, he focused on blacksmithing, a craft still symbolized today by the old blacksmith chimney on the estate. His son Jožef shifted the farm’s focus to crop and livestock farming, investing his hard work in Austrian vineyards into expanding the estate. Danilo Steyer, representing the third generation, transformed the family farm into a modern winery through his passion for wine and viticulture. With the support of his wife Magda, who studied the Gewürztraminer variety during her academic years, they combined their knowledge and courage to center their wine story around this noble grape. Gewürztraminer has become the signature specialty of Steyer Winery, producing premium wines in the Radgonsko-Kapelske gorice wine-growing region, known for their refined aroma and rich flavor. Magda and Danilo built the House of Gewürztraminer, surrounded by vineyards that now cover 20 hectares. In addition to Gewürztraminer, the heart of our winery, we also cultivate the indigenous variety Ranina, along with Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, and two red varieties – Pinot Noir and Zweigelt. Our winery annually produces between 80,000 and 100,000 bottles of premium wines, with each vintage reflecting a unique blend of nature, tradition, and a deep passion for winemaking. Our guiding motto throughout every step of wine production is: "Wine is the melody of our hearts."
