Na Bregi
In the boutique wine cellar Na bregi at Pesnica 6 above Radečka graba in Jurij ob Pesnici, we cherish and build upon a long-standing family tradition of winemaking on the once extensive Dobaj estate. This tradition was started by the Dobay family and continued over the past decades by the Ribarič and Dajčman families. The farm at Grušena 2, located in the heart of Jurij ob Pesnici, proudly dates back to 1860. There, we still keep a prestigious award—a plaque from Vienna, discovered years ago, awarded in 1910. It was received for exceptional wine by Alois Dobay, our grandmother’s grandfather and the great-great-grandfather of the current generation crafting wines in the old cellar at Pesnica 6. The Dobay family used to say they were going "na dero" (to the slope), while we say we are "na bregi" (on the hill), which inspired the name Klet Na bregi. Grateful and honored to have this opportunity, and with the belief that something great can grow from something small, the younger generation produced their first vintage in 2019. Throughout this journey, we have had immense support from our family, friends, and many local winemakers who generously share their advice. We are deeply thankful for all their support. The Na bregi brand was established in 2021. In recent years, we have produced a variety of fresh wines (blends, Yellow Muscat, Sauvignon Blanc, Welschriesling, and Rhine Riesling), barrel-aged wines (skin-contact Rhine Riesling Xren and Sauvignon), and sparkling wines (Pet-Nat Georgius and Georgius Bubbles made from Muscat). In the future, we will also introduce traditional method sparkling wine, which is already aging. Every day we learn and strive to become better. The story is led by two young winemakers, viticulturists, and cellar masters, Jure Deželak and Miha Dajčman. The final word still belongs to our mother, Petra Dajčman. Our invaluable connection to the grand tradition of the estate is our (great-)grandmother Mira Friderika Ribarič, born Dobaj.
